Three tracks on this album were taken from The Bull Behind the Horns - Jazz Suite, which I started writing in 2003 about different people I had the pleasure of working with. The nice thing about the suite is that I kept it open ended so I could add pieces as new ideas came to me. The Contempti-Bull and The Lady Bull were pieces I wrote when I was living in SF a few years ago. However, I added The Prince Bull this year, as a new idea popped into my head. Groggy  was  written  late  at  night when I was half asleep. Washington Ave. was born out of a rhythm created on some grooves in a sidewalk in Miami Beach, FL. The syncopated rhythm blended well with the Latin influences of the city. It was one of the quickest pieces I'd ever written. Find the Cheese is a tune I wrote one summer in a small town in southern Italy named Martina Franca. My roommate and I lived in an old  part of  town where we were constantly lost in the zig-zag of streets. We felt like little mice in a maze in search of our  apartment, which we named the "cheese."  And finally, I wrote Cinderella a long time ago for a girl who is now happily married . . . to somebody else. :)
